In May, Tony Lock (Director), Sophie Sexton (Technician), Amy Pook (Yard Manager), and Ben Portus (Director) successfully completed the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge.

The “Paton and Lee Plodders” took on the gruelling 100km route through Dorset, raising vital funds for two equine welfare charities close to our hearts: the local equine rescue charity, Essex Horse and Pony Protection Society, and the international charity, Brooke – Action for Working Horses and Donkeys.

“It was really tough, but the whole team were brilliant,” said Ben. “The weather was beautiful but very hot, and there are some long, steep climbs that took it out of us.”

There was over 2,300 metres of climbing along the route, and by complete coincidence, they ended up raising exactly £1 per metre climbed! There were lots of sore limbs and blisters among the group, but also a real sense of achievement for great causes. As a practice, we are hugely proud of the entire team.

To help raise funds, we also held a charity quiz night in our local village hall, organised by George and brilliantly hosted by our quiz master, Lily, which proved to be hugely popular. A raffle was also set up, with some fantastic prizes, including a scenic flight with Ben, feed vouchers, buckets of goodies, and a lesson with a dressage pro!

Thanks to our clients and their incredible support we are so happy to have raised over £2500 for these two wonderful charities.
